General Information Boards: Boards for breaking can be purchased at stores such as Beaver Lumber, Builders Warehouse and Home Depot. They are common or knotty pine and the dimensions are a foot by a foot and one inch thick (after processing the boards are actually closer to 3/4 of an inch thick). For small children you should get the boards cut at 6 inches (perpendicular to the grain) instead of a full foot. They come in 4 to 12 foot planks and you have to ask the store to cut them for you in close to one foot cuts ( 6 inches for little children). Board Breaking Ideals: The board represents a goal that can only be reached by total commitment. Any distractions or hesitations will lead to failure. The actual break represents achievement. Achievement is something that no one can give, it can only be earned through hard work and perseverance. Any goal that is worth having is worth working for. The pain involved represents the hard work that it takes to accomplish goals. Student Oath:
